Virtual Relics (AR)
A downloadable project for Android
This AR application allows users to scan any surface to reveal multiple statues:
- Albert Einstein: Renowned physicist known for the theory of relativity.
- Augustus: First Roman emperor, symbolizing power and authority.
- The Discobolus: Iconic ancient Greek sculpture symbolizing athletic strength and grace.
- Greek Kouros: Archaic statue representing the idealized male youth of ancient Greece.
- Greek Stele: Monumental stone slab often used as a grave marker in ancient Greece.
- Mercury (the god): Roman god of commerce, communication, and travel.
- Queen Victoria: Longest-reigning British monarch of her era, embodying power and progress.
- Roman Young Boy: Statue depicting a young boy from ancient Rome.
- Roman Sarcophagus: Ornate coffin used for burials in ancient Rome.
- Sir Robert Cotton: Scholar and antiquarian, famous for founding one of England’s earliest libraries.
Users can interact with each statue by manually adjusting their rotation, scale, and position through touch controls. The statues do not rotate automatically but can be rotated, resized, and repositioned by the user.
Additionally, users have the option to view information about each statue and listen to a narrated audio description. When scanning statues, they can also take a screenshot, save it locally on their phone, display info text, and play the narrator sound for the statue. This project was created purely for self-improvement and has no commercial intent.
